El-P is one of the craziest beat makers around. Here are albums in his catalog ranked. His first solo album, Fantastic Damage, along with The Cold Vein by Cannibal Ox are unmatched in terms of underground hip hop notoriety and importance. His Run The Jewels partnership with Killer Mike has resulted in fire every time, especially RTJ4 (made with Rick Rubin) and the first two releases. He produced Killer Mike’s album “R.A.P. Music” in 2012, which led to the creation of Run The Jewels.
His beats very rarely miss. His other solo albums are worth checking out, especially “I’ll Sleep When You’re Dead,” as well as the underground hip hop prototype, Funcrusher Plus, from 1997. He’s also released a couple of jazzy instrumental albums - “High Water” on Blue Note, and the soundtrack to 2020’s film, Capone.
