Potent ginger elderberry tea for when you’re sick
Sauna Iguana is what I drink when I’m feeling under the weather. It’s a chock-full of immunity work horses. If you look at the ingredients for most immunity teas you’ll find echinacea & astragalus - STRONG, effective roots. The thing about roots (as compared to a leaf or flower) is they’re powerful & earthy, and as a result the flavor is as such. That’s why I combined it with friendly flavors – ginger & peppermint. No strangers to benefits, both are cure-alls and peppermint is especially effective at clearing congestion. Furthermore, elderberries help your recovery by moving embedded phlegm from your respiratory passage, thus clearing your lungs. To round out this strong and spicy mix, I added a touch of orange peel – popular in Chinese Medicine for moving stagnant energy.
Vinyl Pairing: Gabor Szabo - Spellbinder (Impulse!, 1966)
A Hungarian-born guitarist, Gabor was part of the psychedelic jazz scene in L.A. in the late ’60s. You can’t go wrong with Gabor on vinyl… His records are consistent and chill. Gabor was the first artist I would play when I began inviting friends over for tea & vinyl. Gabor's got a golden guitar tone and his playing is intoxicating. Recommended if you like retro sounding music.
